“My boyfriend and I have just bought our first house and had to move outside the City. This means my commute to work is now 90mins and I have less time in my bed and Im searching for quick and easy beauty tips so I can sleep more! I am getting sooo bored of just wearing my hair in a ponytail. I really hope your followers can share their secrets. Cheryl XOXOX”

Victoria answers. . .

“Thanks for getting in contact Cheryl and congrats on the new house.  Never fear there are some secret beauty secrets to getting a longer lie in. First up, have you discovered dry shampoo?  This means you don’t need to wash your hair everyday if you are prone to greasy roots.  Simply spray, wait a few minutes and brush through – giving you a just washed appearance and smell.

Secondly remember that messy hair-dos are on trend right now so you don’t have to put much time in to achieve a highly fashionable look.  Simply pull hair into a ponytail, without worrying about brushing or smoothing down, then back comb and pin hair down naturally around the ponytail with kirby grips.  Add cute little slides if you want to glam it up.

How about investing in a good tinted moisturiser?  This will save time as you apply your foundation and moisturiser at once.  It also feels a lot lighter than normal foundation meaning you might just be able to skip the powder stage too.

Finally it can be tempting to skip breakfast when time is limited but do remember that experts agree it’s the most important meal of the day.  Instead how about making a delicious smoothie the night before and storing it in the fridge?  Invest in a flask and you can enjoy your breakfast on the go, without resorting to the vending machines. Here is my fav smoothie recipe (makes four so save in the fridge for later):

  • 450g bag frozen berries
  • 450g pot fat-free strawberry yogurt
  • 100ml milk
  • 25g porridge oats
  • 2 tsp honey (optional)
  • Whizz the berries, yogurt and milk together with a stick blender until smooth. Stir through the porridge oats, then pour into 4 glasses and serve with a drizzle of honey, if you like.
