Mel asks. . .
“My friend is getting married in a registry office in September and we have been invited. This her second marriage and she is planning a relatively low-profile event with dinner for four couples at a local bistro afterwards. The usual wedding outfits will probably be a bit over the top for this event, so I wonder what you would suggest that I wear?”
Victoria answers. . .
“Hi Mel, thanks for contacting Dress Spy. A small intimate wedding can be great and doesn’t mean you should totally dress down, just be more careful with how you dress your outfit up. I wouldn’t over accessorise and I would make sure not to wear a hat or head decoration that is usually more associated with church weddings. This doesn’t mean you can’t make your hair a feature with a chic French Braid which is really on trend at the moment. I would avoid strong bright colours, which demand a lot of attention, and go for hues of dusky pinks or pastels. The bag here is a little bit quirky and adds a bit of fun to the outfit, which you can carry with you into the evening meal out. To get this look click here”.
”Or perhaps Vintage is more your thing. In which case how about this gorgeous tea dress in a floral monochrome print. The wonderful thing about this is it’s very fitting as day wear but you can dress it up with fuschia pink accessories. By keeping the colour to accessories you make sure the focus is still on the happy couple but you look suitably gorgeous from day to night. To get this look click here”.
”Perhaps you really feel that a dress is too dressed up and would feel more comfortable in a skirt and top so how about something colourful in coral. Team this pencil coral skirt with a vintage inspired lace top and gold accessories for a chic, on trend look. Gold brings a modern twist to the whole look so go for gold accessories and bag.
